Will doing this damage my hair?

i found this recipe to geat beachy waves (i have VERY straight hair), well i am not putting it all but it consists of putting water, sea salt and a little bit of gel in ur hair. does this damage the hair, will my hair get really ugly if i do this? if it does, will the damage last forever?

good question....well first you need to add a little something to this recipe....and that some hair conditoner...the salt by itself with the gel and water will dry ot the hair...i atcually made a sea salt spray for clients....

1/4 cup sea salt

1/4 cup conditoner

1/2 cup water

mix and mix....spray on damp hair and relax and let it air dry...

make sure to wash it out at night and this shouldnt be done to the hair offen...1 or 2 times a week is fine

if its like my hair you can try it, but it probably won't work. my hair is extremely straight too and only hot curlers work to give it any kind of body whatsover. Good luck with that.

I can't imagine why this would damage your hair, it would kind of be like putting a "sea salt gel" in you hair, if anything, this is a lot healthier than using a curling iron or straightner... I know heat damages hair really bad, I guess just make sure you wash it out and use a good conditioner.

According to everyone else that has answered the question it probably won't damage it. I actually have got a question for you. I too have really straight hair. If it works out alright would you mind e-mailing or IMing the recipe to me? I would love wavy hair.

it shouldn't do too much damage..if your hair is significantly oily or dry you may get different results...in that case you should alter the amount of how much you put in your hair..however there are products out there that pretty much have those same effects so you don't have to go and make it yourself...try john frieda beach blonde spray..i believe it's called that...you can find it at a wal-mart or target..even k-mart..i've used it before and i have suuuper stick straight hair like you do..honestly it didn't do much but thenn again my hair is reeeally thick too so it takes the jaws of life to do anything to it..if the product doesn't work out you can easily just wash it out..no harm done..hope this helps :]
