If I put gel in my hair and try to make my bangs stand up, they aren't straight up.. it kind of like poofs out in the front some. You can't really tell from straight on, but if I look to the side then you can tell and it looks goofy.

Use some strong hold gels.. Or use Gatsby's gels or wax.. They're nice.. It really holds ur hair straight up..;]
