Does anyone know of very reputable hair salons for the japanese hair straightening in the queens are

I live in NY and I have just graduated high school and have put up with my extremely curly, frizzy hair for my whole life. I sometimes appreciate the curls, but they are only seen if i put a half bottle of gel in my hair. I am going to college in New Orleans, which is very humid (a hair disaster!) I have been thinking about doing the japanese hair straightening before I leave , but I heard that it is very damaging for your hair. I would like to hear of more ppl's experiences with this procedure and their recommendations. Thank you

Please don't do it. For four months it was great.when I washed it and let it dry and added some gel..it had some nice waves. But the purpose was to have straight hair!

It did not cut my styling time down because in order for it to look smooth you still have to blow dry straight so that it doesn't look frizzy. Styling time was still 40 minutes! After the fourth month I noticed hair damage and some of my hair fell out. My hair since then (1 year 2 months later) has had some breakage and the curls have come back but SOME strands wont curl as before so I have some straight strands in which little by little I have had to trim off. The retouch is really expensive and equally damaging.

I suggest you keep your beautiful curls and learn to appreciate it. Blow dry or roller set your hair to straighten use products that help it stay straight (john frieda sells style straight products to use before blowing out) but do not do the permanent straightenor.

My friend did it as well and after 3 months she chopped her hair real short..hating it.

That system is good for people with light wavy hair not curly curly hair.

Look for my answer to the CHI procedure before you go through with this.

Is it the Matrix product you are talking about? The first time I had it done it was fine, the second time it was frizzy, and the third time was a complete disaster. My hair was falling out and breaking off like crazy, so much that it completely ruined my hairstyle and I had to get it cut WAY shorter, which is the opposite of what I wanted since I was trying to grow it out. I still have to flat iron it to get rid of the frizz, and I have to do it more and more as the roots grow out. I went to one of the most reputable hair salons in Berlin (an Udo Walz salon) to get it cut, and the hairstylist said that no matter where you get the straightening done, it's the worst thing you can do for your hair. Seriously, he went on and on about what bad condition my hair was in. I would recommend looking into products that block humidity--maybe try the Frizz Eaze line. Their hair serum works well and now they have a version that protects against thermal damage, if you decide to start flat ironing.
