without any hair products you probably won't have any luck getting it to look like his. I understanding not wanting to use gel... it gets sticky and stuff like that. Try using mousse. After you get out of the shower and you just towel dry your hair put some mousse throughout your hair and then blow dry it while brushing it to the side. This should work really well without the stickiness of the gel effect. You could also try hair putty. Good luck!
