Why does my hair look like this?

A few minutes or hours after I wash my hair, it looks slick, like I've put gel in it before. In fact, I haven't. Why does it look like there's gel? Is my hair lacking in something or is it oily? What? Please help.

this happens to me every now and then! it drives me crazy cuz even after i wash it still feels like i have product in and/or dirty. Try buying a new shampoo like Vive Zero Residue Buildup or Neutrogena Anti-Residue.

It sounds a bit oily - try a different shampoo for oily hair. Are you putting too much conditioner in your hair and not rinsing enough.

Rinse Rinse Rinse...after using conditioner. The more you rinse the more shine your hair will have. ALSO try to keep your hands OUT of your hair...if your hair is falling flat chances are you are running your fingers through it to give it some lift. RESIST that urge. Yes it will be hard instead just bend over and shake your head. If none of that works you can also try dusting your hair with baby powder...not alot mind you, just enough to absorb some of the oil at your scalp.

yes its oily..

I think after your wash, the moisture which was still retaiend in your hair gives it the 'wet look'.

1) But I think that the moisture which was stuck on your scalp is a collection spot and breeding ground for germs. Because germs like moist and warm placed, it helps them to grow.

2) Also maybe, you might have not cleaed your hair properly after shampooing or applying conditioner. So the 'gel look' may be the residue which is left behind.

Suggestions

1) You know dogs, when then get wet, they shake like hell to get the water out of their fur. You can do this 1st by shaking some excess water off your head 1st. Next use towel to dry your hair, maybe you can rub the towel into your hair in a slower motion, and well into the scalp so that most of the water even those on the scalp's surface is being sbsorbed. Lastly use a hair dryer to blow the hair dry. You can also style your hair using the dryer and 'set' it in the shape you want by blowing along the direction of the hairstyle!

2) While washing your hair, you might want to clean throughly and at the same time you don't want to hurt your scalp. So use your fingertips to massage the scalp while shampooing instead of using fingernails. Well, you can of course use your palm to apply the shampoo to your hair first then use the fingers. This ensures that the shampoo is evenly spread out with your fingers and that the fingertips are enough to keep the hair and scalp clean. One might accidentally scratch their scalp when using their fingernails, so avoid that. After that use running water to wash the shampoo off and just use your hand to assist the water by just running your hands throught your hair to let all the shampoo wash off. Use the same technique to apply and wash off the conditioner!

This is my two cents worth!

You should try a Clarifying shampoo. That usually works for me.

The Suave brand sells one, and it works well. It's less than $2 a bottle, so you can try it without wasting all kinds of money.

The more expensive brands, such as Pantene, make them, also.

That is what I would recommend. It's good at getting all of the dirt and oil out of your hair. :)

Why does my hair look like this?

oily..or you left some conditioner on your hair you didnt wash it good

I could be oil, or the shampoo. It depends on what you use. If you use body-wash that's the answer. Body-wash makes your hair really oily, and looks like you have gel in your hair. If you're using a shampoo that is for a dry scalp then that's it, obviously you don't have a dry scalp. Maybe you don't wash out your hair well enough. It all depends on what you do. But if it is maintenance I suggest getting a shorter messy type hair cut, you won't have to use as much shampoo, and it is easier to wash all the soap out. Wish you good luck!!!

Why does my hair look like this?
