TIps about shaving pubic hair...?

Please do not rant to me about how pubic hair is there for a reason, and I shouldn't be shaving. It's my body, and my decision; I don't do it for anyone else, jsut for myself. thanks.

So I've been shaving for years, and a friend of mine has asked me for some tips, because she's always gotten really bad results... bumpy, etc. but really hates her hair. She got a wax once, but didn't like how much she had to pay, and was really awkward with going to have it done, lol

I told her to take a warm bath first to soften the hair, use a new razor and "bikini zone" shave gel, shave in the direction of hair growth, and don't go over any areas too much. Apparently she still gets bumps? I've never really had an issue, so I don't know what else to tell her.

Anyone have any other tips, or another product better than "bikini zone" brand?

I have an incredibly hard time shaving any area of my body without having issues with razor burn and other things. This area is no different sadly.

The only think thats ever really worked for me is rubbing alcohol (ever wonder why aftershave tingles? Rubbing alcohol is a more cost productive solution and its aftershave's main ingredient.) I use a spray bottle, but a washcloth or something similar works. It does tingle, but only for a couple seconds.. and it can do a world of good.

Other things would be to not soak for too long... as your body absorbing too much water can hinder a close shave. Don't soak for more than 5 minutes.

Don't use a dull blade, in order to get good results you'll end up having to press harder and use more strokes. That will equal a larger opportunity to get razor burn. Rinse the blades really well after each stroke. Clogged blades don't work well (so try to avoid thick shaving lotions.)

Make sure things are trimmed as close as possible (ideal length would be just about stubble length. The small electric pen shaped shavers are good for this.)

Rinse, Rinse, Rinse. One of the main things that can cause irritations are scents, soaps and all the junk you find in most shaving/soap products. The public area is really sensitive, and you really don't want to be leaving that kind of residue there.

I just use veet and I get fantastic results.

i used to get bumps really badly too.

i did use veet for awhile, and it worked.

just be careful, it's not meant for sensitive areas or anything "down there".

They make products for women to use in their bikina area to keep from getting red bumps. You apply it right after shaving and then again the following day. Tell her to look for that. It works!

I have discovered the BEST thing to prevent razor burn! If you apply Solarcaine (it's an aloe vera gel meant for sunburn) right when you get out of the shower, you won't get the razorburn! It's the same ingredient in Bikini Zone (lidocaine) plus aloe vera gel to make it even better. Good luck!

shave it with the grain first. then after uve gotten as much as u can that way. soap it up really well again, and shave against the grain to get that baby smooth feel.

My wife had a similar problem, she started using men's shaving gel "for sensitive skin" and that seems to have helped a whole lot. Might give that a try.

Something like Nair* would work great. Its just a cream you apply and that you leave on for 15 mintues. Then you just wipe the hair off with a cloth. Nair also offers wax. Its not expensive.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!

veet really does work wonders, just be careful not to let the cream slip into...er...more sensitive areas...ull be well aware, lol

The bumps are usually caused by ingrown hairs and by the razor cutting the small bumps caused by the hairs.

Using an electric razor works well, there are some that are designed for women and can be submerged. These work best. When using an electric razor use plenty of a well-sudsing soap such as Jergens or Tone. No need for a special gel.

Other things that can be done is after shaving (either by razor or electric razor) apply a powder, bumps can be caused by the irritation of the freshly-shaven skin rubbing against undergarments. If her undergarments are anything other than cotton then she really should try powder.
