Once you have curled straight hair, how do you keep the curl in?

I have long straight hair that has never held curl well. But I would like some curls every day and again. I tried putting my wet hair in foam rollers and sleeping with them. That worked well, but as soom as I took it out my hair started going back straight. I combed gel thru my hair before I rolled it and sprayed it with spray gel after. It that didn't seem to help. What should I do?

i have the perfect thing for this....I myself have heavy hair but it seems to work for me so try it...

Use hot curlers Planet Beauty has a great line of these....

when you put them on make sure there HOT

Leave them on till they get cold....

before removing them apply COLD air with the blow dryer

Spray light hairspray and remove the rollers

lightly stroll your figer tips through your hair and thats it...

What this does is the HEAT from the curlers will curl your hair and the COLD air LOCKS the curls in place....I have done this many time and my curls stay in regardless of what i do throughout the day....

curling your hair when it hasnt been washed will keep the curls staying in longer

you might consider good hair cut that will enable more volume to your straight hair, because it seems to me that your hair is naturally heavy and prone not to accept well curling.

don't use foam rollers but try magnetic or salon type plastic mesh rollers and use a strong setting lotion, you will need a good tight net tied around your head to keep them in place whilst sleeping in them and you will also find them more uncomfortable

however they will give you long lasting curls when you take them out the next morning. after you have placed curls into place with your fingers you should use a non sticky hair spray to keep your style in place

or try going to a salon and get a shampoo and roller set and get the stylist to give you advice on type and size of rollers + type of setting lotion that will be best for your hair type,

the stylist will also give you tips on how to roll your hair up properly so that you can try it at home

you could also invest in a hooded dryer to cut drying time down so that you can set it in the early evening before going out at night

as soon as you curl one piece of hair spray it with hair spray, or spray it while the hair is still around the iron, make sure you don't get to much spray on the iron though, i did that once and it ruined the iron! good luck!

Try the Curls Up products from FX Special Effects. They're great! You can get them at any Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, etc.
